I no longer follow bands like I use to when I was younger. I
don’t watch the music video shows and I’m usually the last to know when it comes
to the music industry. I first learnt about Sheppard when they were interviewed
on a few Australian breakfast television shows and heard them on the radio.

Sheppard is an
Australian Indie pop band whose song Geronimo has launched them to success.
They are the first indie band to make it to number one in the Australian
charts. The band is from Brisbane and comprises of six members. It originally
started with two siblings Amy and George Sheppard who then included their
musically talented friends and their sister Emma.

Personally, I like the Australian video clip because it has a story and it's so creative. They make a monster out of cardboard boxes.
I also wanted to share the cover that Sheppard did of Say
something by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera. I think it’s just as
good as the original.

ReplyDeleteWell, here goes again as I try to rehash most of what I wrote before. I had to listen to and watch Geronimo on audilizer because the first two videos are not available in the U.S.. I agree with you Carlyn and I really like the chorus too and think it's a catchy tune. The video looks like it would have been a lot of fun to make and I like that the group seemed to have a good time with it. I want a box monster for Christmas.
I think the brother and sister both have very good voices. I'd like to listen to a song from them where the sister's voice is featured a bit more.
I thought their Say Something cover was as good as the original version. It's good that they did not do too much different with it because I liked the original. It's rare I like a remake better then the original. A few exceptions are The Indigo Girl's cover of Romeo and Juliet first sung by the Dire Straights, David Grey's cover of Say Hello Wave Goodbye, originally sung by Soft Cell and my God have mercy on my soul for this, but Judy Collins cover of My Life originally sung by the Beetles. >.<
I hope Sheppard gets some air time in America. Tell me if you hear it on your Indie radio station.
