One of the things that Jon and I discovered after doing a
blog challenge was that we want to blog more regularly. So every Monday will be
Entertainment Mondays where we highlight our favourite movies or music for that
week. Sometimes we’ll showcase our old favourite films and music artists other
times we’ll write about our current obsessions. Jon and I will be taking turns
writing this column and the first Entertainment Monday will be my turn.
Hopefully, we’ll introduce you to new interests and start a dialogue with our
readers.
The artist that I
want to highlight today is Ariana Grande. Coincidently, I learnt about her from
a blog post that I read a year ago. I went out to check out her music and I’ve
been a fan since. I’m currently obsessed
with her song Problem featuring Iggy Azalea. Ariana Grande is a 20 year old
American artist who is an up and coming singer and actress. It was her success
with her debut song The Way featuring Mac Miller and her role in the
Nickelodeon show Victorious which helped her to become an international star.
I like Ariana Grande because she had big loud, flirty voice
that reminds me of a young Mariah Carey. In fact, I think most of her video
clips have a retro 90s vibe which makes me feel nostalgic as I grew up in the
90s.

Azalea is an upbeat and catchy song . It’s about being in love with someone who
is not good for you. I also love the song because Iggy Azalea is in it and I’m
fast becoming a fan of hers as well.
The video clip has a 60s theme and the dance number that
Ariana does in it is so cute and can easily be copied by fans. I think Ariana’s
live performances of this song have been very good. I first heard the song when
she made an appearance on Ellen.
Cute girl and I liked the song. I think the dance looks like it's easy enough to copy for people who like to do that. I actually saw people copy what looked like a really complicated dance to me at a club once. There was a big video screen playing the video and several people were doing the dance from the video. It seemed a bit pretentious to me, but that's coming from a guy with two left feet, so take my criticism with a grain of salt. Maybe it was just jealousy on my part. >.< My favorite thing about "Problem" was the rap from Iggy Azalea. I thought the lightly veiled shout out to Jay-Z was funny.
ReplyDeleteThis feature should be interesting! I love both music and movies, so I can't wait to see what you two feature. :) I have to admit that I'm not much of an Ariana Grande fan, though. Her voice is amazing, but somehow I just never got into her songs. It's a shame, because I really want to fall in love with her the same way so many other people did, but sigh, I guess I'm going to have to get used to her music if I really want to like her.
ReplyDeleteIggy Azalea has such a unique voice! When I first heard about her and saw her face, I couldn't believe it. But I like it all the same. :D For more vintage-y songs, though, I listen to Lana Del Rey. My obsession with her is borderline crazy, haha.
